Number Memory Test

Most people can hold around 7 digits in short-term working memory. Test your limits with this expanding digit sequencer.

Number Memory

Remember increasingly long numbers. How many digits can you hold in working memory?

How the Number Memory Test Works

The test displays a number on the screen. Try to remember it. Once the countdown timer ends, type the number back into the input field. If correct, the number of digits increases by one. If incorrect, the test finishes.

Understanding Short-Term Memory Capacity

Cognitive research suggests that adult working memory span is constrained by Miller's Law: we can typically hold between 5 to 9 chunks of information simultaneously. High-performance recall relies on chunking strategies, converting digits into associations, shapes, or sequences.
